I'm a frontend software engineer with a strong interest in usability and accessibility, particularly when I can combine beauty, function, and creativity. I have a history in sales, marketing, and customer service, which helps me to approach projects with usability and customer happiness in mind. I'm a person who has the answers - because even if I don't know an answer, I will find one. I love working with teams where we learn and teach one another, overcoming challenges creatively and collaboratively, and in the end producing beautiful, useful things.
When I'm not coding, I am likely creating in some other way. I've been teaching folks how to embroider for over a decade. From 2009 to 2014 I owned and operated a small embroidery studio called Tako Fibers, specializing in crewel embroidery kits for beginners. My embroidery work has been featured in several ad campaigns, books, magazines, and as a line of kits for Williams-Sonoma.
I also enjoy, drawing, painting, knitting, sewing my own clothes, gardening, thrifting, dancing, paddleboarding, and reading an awful lot of Wikipedia. I also like to make soup and will always share my recipes upon request.
I live in Portland, Oregon, with my lovely family and evolving flower and vegetable garden.
